PLASU ACTING VC VISITS CHAIRMAN BOKKOS, SOLICITS COOPERATION ON SECURITY AND PEACE

Acting Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University Bokkos, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best has solicited for the cooperation and understanding of the people of Bokkos in fostering peace and security of the area in order for development and academic activities to thrive.
Professor Best was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Monday Kassah to intimate him that he has assumed duties in the University following his recent appointment by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
Professor Best told the Chairman that Plateau State University was not established with a clear vision and mandate of galvanizing the potentials of the State for growth and development.
According to Professor Best during his tenure, the University will blend its local components with international exposure to drive this vision for the development of future generations of the State.
He said it is in this regard that he has reached out to the Bulgarian Embassy in Nigeria for the purpose of cementing relationships that would metamorphose into staff and students exchange Programmes which would further expose the University to the universal academic community.
According to him there is the need for synergy between the State and Local Government Councils who are owners of the University to grow the University.
He commended the fatherly role exhibited by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang in nurturing the University by demonstrating government's continuous presence through funding and the recent cut by fifty percent as palliative in realization of the economic downturn which exerted pressure on both parents and students to enable them cope with the payment of their fees.
Responding, the Transition Implementation Chairman of Bokkos, Monday Kassah while congratulating Professor Best assured him that everything possible would be done to secure the Local Government which is host to the University.
He said the Local Government has placed security in its first line charge realizing the importance of peace to the development of both the area and the University.
He commended Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for subsidizing the fees for the students by fifty percent which shows the importance that government attaches to the education of its citizens.
