SUMMARY OF MAJOR EVENTS UNDER THE WATCH OF PROFESSOR SHEDRACK GAYA BEST, AS ACTING VICE CHANCELLOR, PLATEAU STATE UNIVERSITY, BOKKOS.

On the 14th of February 2024, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best on assumption of office, paid courtesy call to the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Monday Kassah, where the VC solicits for collaboration. Professor Best also intimated the TIC Chairman that he has reached out to the Bulgarian Embassy in Nigeria for the purpose of cementing relationship that would metamorphose into staff and students exchange programmes which would further expose the university to the universal academic Community.
Responding, TIC Chairman, Monday Kassah, congratulates the Acting Vice Chancellor over his appointment by the Governor and Visitor to the University, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and assured him of his unflinching support by creating conducive environment for academic activities to thrive.

The Acting Vice Chancellor on the 15th of February, received a rousing welcome by the coalition of Students’ Union Association of the Plateau State University Bokkos.
At that time, the Academic Staff Union of Universities PLASU chapter were on strike. The Acting Vice Chancellor, used the moment to state his mission “my mandate and mission is well defined and is in tandem with the Time is Now Philosophy of restoring hope and confidence of both students and parents as well as stakeholders in the capacity of the management to deliver on the mandate tailored towards teaching research and community Service".

Also, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best on the 16th of February, embark on familiarization visit of facilities of the University. His body language at that time indicates a leader with high taste for quality and also believes in environmental protection. A man who always want workers under his watch, to be proactive and diligent in carrying out duties.
Places visited include; the Senate Chamber, Procurement Unit, ICT Centre, Faculties of Social Sciences, Art, Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, University Clinic. At the Joshua Dariye student Centre, the Acting Vice Chancellor, directed the SUG to take full ownership of place for their activities.
During the visit, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best advocates for the adoption of maintenance culture and environmental hygiene by the university community.

On 11th March, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best received in his office, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Yabanet Steve and other high ranking officers on a courtesy call.
Acting VC, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best called for a collaborative effort with the Nigeria Police Force, who will work in synergy with other sister security outfits, to bolster the safety and security of lives and properties within the University community.

In another development, the Alumni Staff of Plateau State University, Bokkos has on the 12th of March, presented a plague to the Acting Vice Chancellor symbolizing the acceptance of Professor Shedrack Gaya Best as the Chief pilot of the institution where he felt delighted over the gesture.
Also, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, on Monday 25th March, led other management Staff of the University to the palace of the Saf Butura, in Butura Gida, where he was warmly received by the Engineer Doctor, John Mallau Makwal led council of chiefs.
The Acting VC was told to lias with the Butura Liaison Community Committee for land and other related issues.
