DIRECTOR GENERAL, PLATEAU INFORMATION DEVELOPMENT AGENCY COMMENDS PLASU FOR PARTNERING DIASPORA TO IMPACT YOUTHS WITH ICT SKILLS.

The Director General, Plateau Information Development Agency Engr Dominic Datong Gwaman has applauded Plateau State University Bokkos for partnering the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization to train Nigerian youths in ICT skills.
Engineer Gwaman who was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University Bokkos Professor Matur Malau Bernard said his mandate as the Director General of the State Information Development Agency was tailored towards fast tracking ICT skills development in the state as a means of engendering its socio economic growth.
He appreciated Plateau State University and the Nigerians in Diaspora for organization for taking the lead in making enormous sacrifices by bringing such training to the door steps of Plateau State.
According to Engineer Datong Gwaman when quantified in monetary terms , the cost of deploying the experts and the equipment used for the training of over three hundred youths in the various areas of ICT development is huge.
He said with the skills acquired by the youth, Plateau State can now think of venturing into the art of digital marketing which will help in growing its gross domestic product when its goods and services are adequately marketed and promised to step up training of both government and private companies to computerize their services for maximum output and returns.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University, Professor Matur Malau Bernard who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Associate Professor Jurji Nengak Gomos appreciated the Director General of the State Information Development Agency, Engineer Dominic Datong Gwaman and the state government under the leadership of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for the interest taken in the growth and development of Plateau State University Bokkos.
He said the seeds of the ICT partnership training programme will not only make Plateau State an ICT hub but will help boost the states eternally generated revenue when adequately put to use.
He said the University under the leadership of Professor Matur Malau Bernard has gone into collaboration with international partners such such as Nigerians in Diaspora Organization and Czech Republic whose Ambassador will be visiting the University in August to perfect discussions on issues of bilateral cooperation.
Also on a visit to the University was the Secretary General of Butura Development Association, Mr. Thomas Maren Mandong who threw his weight behind the ICT Director in commending Plateau State University in the series of development Programmes being initiated and executed by the management and pledged his community's support towards the growth of the University.
The two personalities had earlier at the ICT department encouraged the over three hundred youths who were trained on various ICT skills to take the opportunity provided free of charge to make a career out of the training and contribute their quota to the development and growth of the country.
In her remarks, the Head ICT, Plateau State University, Mrs Lydia jonglapson appreciated the visitors for the interest taken in the development of the University and urged them to help in spreading the message as ICT holds the key to the future of both the state and the nation.
